Father Joseph Slomski
Fr. Joseph Slomski was born on Dec. 18, 1925, in New Britain, Connecticut, and studied for the priesthood at Kenrick Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. He was ordained to the priesthood on Feb. 28, 1953. During his priestly ministry Father Slomski served at the following parishes: Sacred Heart in Frontenac, St. Mary in Derby, Holy Cross in Hutchinson, St. John in El Dorado, Our Lady of Lourdes in Pittsburg, St. Patrick in Fulton, St. Teresa in Madison, St. John in Hamilton, St. Patrick in Florence, Immaculate Conception in Burns, St. Mary in Aleppo, St. Mary in Moline, St. Joseph in Cedar Vale, St. Robert in Sedan, and St. Mary in Chase. He also served as moderator for the Newton District Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. Father Slomski retired from active ministry March 3, 2002. He is buried at Sacred Heart Cemetery in New Britain.
