Father Kenneally was born on May 3, 1883 at Cloyne, County Cork, Ireland where he lived until he was 18 years of age. In preparation for ordination to the priesthood he studied at Mt. Melleray in Cappoquin, Ireland; Collegio Brignole in Genoa, Italy; and St. Patrick’s College in Carlow, Ireland. He was ordained for the Diocese of Wichita on May 26, 1912 at the college chapel in Carlow. His only assignment as an assistant was at St. Mary’s Cathedral from October 10, 1912 until March 6, 1913 and his only assignment as a pastor was at Immaculate Conception Parish in Danville until 1953. Following his retirement in 1953 he took a six-month vacation to Ireland. After returning to the United States for a few months he returned to Ireland for four years until his death at Wilton Lawn, County Cork, on December 7, 1957. The telegram informing Bishop Carroll of Father Kenneally’s death did not give the cause of death or the place of his burial.
