Father Frank Baumstark
Father Buamstark was born on July 13, 1914 in Ste. Genevieve, MO. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Wichita on May 30, 1944 after completing his philosophical and theological studies at St. Meinrad Seminary, St. Meinrad, IN. As an assistant he was assigned to St. Joseph Parish in Ellinwood and as pastor he was assigned to Dubuque, Walnut, Derby and Pittsburg. His last assignment was to St. Andrew Parish in Independence. In each of his pastoral assignments he did extensive building and remodeling to the parish plants. For two years Fr. Baumstark was State Chaplain of the Knights of Columbus. He died of an apparent heart attack on June 11, 1973 in Independence. Bishop Maloney was the principal celebrant of his funeral Mass at St. Andrew Parish, Independence. Father Baumstark was buried in Ste. Genevieve, MO.
