Msgr. Thomas Glynn
Msgr. Glynn was born in Kansas City, MO on April 7, 1908 and was ordained on June 11, 1938 in St. Mary Cathedral by Bishop Schwertner after studying at Conception Seminary and Kenrick Seminary both in Missouri. During his priesthood he was assigned to Yates Center and Owl Creek, Mt. St. Mary’s Convent, Winfield and Oxford, St. Mary Cathedral, Blessed Sacrament Parish in Wichita, and Harper. He also was director of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, youth director, spiritual director of Sacred Heart College, moderator of the USO (United Service Organizations), chancellor, and vicar general. In 1962 he was named a monsignor and during the interim between Bishop Byrne and Bishop Maloney was administrator of the diocese. On November 13, 1976 he suffered a heart attack and died three days later at the hospital in Harper. Bishop Maloney was principal celebrant and Bishop Carroll the homilist of Msgr. Glynn’s funeral in the cathedral. He was buried in Calvary Cemetery in Wichita.
