Father C. Frank Colbert

Father Colbert was born on April 10, 1914 in Chicago, IL. After attending Kenrick Seminary, St. Louis, MO he was ordained for the Diocese of Wichita at St. Viator’s Church in Chicago by Archbishop Samuel Stritch on May 22, 1941. He served as an assistant at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Wichita and as a pastor in Kiowa, Perth, Bluff City, Augusta, Kinsley, Fort Scott (two times), Piqua, Florence, Iola, Caldwell, Fredonia and Anthony. Father Colbert retired in 1976 and lived the last years of his life at the Priest Retirement Center and the Catholic Care Center in Wichita. He died on April 7, 1997 at eighty-two years of age with thirty-five years of active ministry in the Diocese of Wichita. Father Colbert’s Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on April 12th at St. Mary’s Cathedral and burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Evergreen Park, IL.
