Father Louis Struble

Father Struble was born on August 19, 1923 at Pretty Prairie, KS. He attended Conception Seminary, Conception, MO and was ordained by Bishop Carroll at St. Louis Parish, Waterloo, on February 5, 1948. As an assistant he was assigned to St. Rose Parish in Great Bend and as a pastor he was assigned to Girard, Caldwell, Zenda, St. Marks, and Cunningham. After recovering from a 1978 heart attack, he was chaplain at Mount St. Mary’s Convent and chaplain at St. Francis Regional Medical Center. His last assignment was as pastor to Council Grove and Strong City. Bishop Gerber celebrated his funeral at St. Mary’s Cathedral on April 10, 1990 and Father Struble was buried at the parish cemetery in Waterloo. Father Roth said of Fr. Struble, “As a priest he was always jolly. When it came to liturgy he was sincere.” (The Catholic Advance, Apr. 12, 1990)
