Father Kenneth Melaragno

Father Melaragno was born on June 24, 1942 in Cleveland, OH. After studying at Glastonbury Latin School, Hingham, MA; St. John Vianney Seminary, Stubenville, OH; Mount St. Paul College, Waukesha, WI; and St. Thomas Seminary, Denver, CO, he was ordained at the St. Mary’s Cathedral by Bishop Maloney on May 27, 1972. The majority of Fr. Melaragno’s priestly ministry was involved in teaching and he taught in three of the four high schools in the diocese. His first assignment and a later assignment were to Pittsburg as an assistant and teacher at St. Mary’s Colgan High School. He was an assistant at St. Margaret Mary Parish in Wichita and later was a teacher and chaplain at both Bishop Carroll and Kapaun-Mount Carmel High Schools in Wichita. As pastor he was assigned to St. Anthony Parish, Garden Plain. He was also Diocesan Director of the Apostleship of Prayer and was a captain in the U.S. Army Reserves. His last assignment was as assistant at St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Andover until his death on Easter Sunday, April 11, 1993. Bishop Gerber was principal celebrant of a Memorial Mass for Father Melaragno at St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Andover and his funeral was celebrated at Saint John Nepomucene Church in Cleveland, OH. Father Melaragno was buried in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon, OH.
