Father August Heimann

Father Heimann was born on February 15, 1866 at Lafayette, IN and was ordained for the Diocese of Concordia. In 1891 Bishop Hennessy, who was then administrator of the Concordia Diocese, transferred Father Heimann to Odin and he spent the rest of his priestly ministry in the Diocese of Wichita. He was pastor in the following towns: Colby, Beloit, Herndon, Odin, Garden City, St. Joe (in Edwards County), Kinsley, Piqua, Sharon, and Bushton. The last nine years of his life were spent at St. Joseph’s Home in El Dorado, first as chaplain and then in retirement. From 1923 – 1930 he served on the Diocesan School Board. He died on August 17, 1951 at the age of 85 and in the 63rd year of his priesthood. Fr. Heimann’s funeral Mass was celebrated by Msgr. A.A. Hermann on August 20th at St. Martin Parish, Piqua, where he served for 21 years and where his parents were buried.
