Father Joseph Donohoe

Father Donohoe was born on January 17, 1914 in Brooklyn, NY. After working in a brokerage business for fifteen years and serving in the Air Force for almost four years, he attended St. Francis Seminary in Loretto, PA and was ordained a Franciscan priest on May 21, 1944. In 1955 he came to the Diocese of Wichita and was assigned as an assistant first to St. Patrick Parish in Kingman and later to St. Mary Parish in Newton. He served in Little River; Franklin and Capaldo; Villa Maria Home in Mulvane with Oxford as a mission; Oswego and Chetopa; Tampa; and St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. On July 2, 1973 he took a sick leave and died on December 11, 1976. Bishop Maloney celebrated a memorial Mass for Father Donohoe at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Pittsburg where he lived in residence before his death. His funeral Mass was held in Our Lady of Angels Church in Brooklyn, NY.
