Father John Faber

Father Faber was born on August 9, 1867 in Cologne, Germany. After receiving his early education in parochial schools in his hometown of Cologne, he attended university in Friesburg and in Bonn, Germany. He completed his education for the priesthood at Canisian College in Fribourg, Switzerland and was ordained there on April 4, 1908. He first served in the Diocese of Concordia and then in the Diocese of Wichita at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, and later at Belpre, Dubuque and Strong City. Following a long period of poor health, he died at St. Mary’s Hospital in Emporia on July 14, 1935. Fr. Faber’s funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Anthony’s Church in Strong City, Kansas.
