Father Eugene Patrick Quinn

Father Quinn was born on April 10, 1912 in the Bronx, New York. After graduation from high school, he was employed by Wall Street firms and General Motors. In 1935 he began his studies for the priesthood at Benedictine Mission College, Newton, NJ, and continued at Seton Hall Seminary, Darlington, NJ and the Delbarton House of Studies, Morristown, NJ. His theological studies were done at Belmont Abbey, Belmont, NC and St. Meinard’s Seminary, St. Meinrad’s, IN. Father Quinn’s ordination was in the Church of St. Paul the Apostle in New York City on January 25, 1945. As assistant he was assigned to St. Patrick’s Parish, Parsons and Holy Name Parish, Coffeyville. On October 11, 1947 he was made pastor of St. Mary’s Parish, Moline, but was only there for a few weeks before he became ill. Following treatment at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Wichita, he went to Mercyville Hospital in Dyer, IN where he died of a heart attack on July 21, 1948. Funeral services for Fr. Quinn were held at St. Catherine of Siena’s Parish in St. Albans, New York.
