Father S. J. Boringer

Father Boringer was born on February 27, 1871 in Treves, Germany. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 29, 1895 after studying in Louvain, Belgium. In the Diocese of Leavenworth he served in Perry and Kansas City, Kansas. With the 1897 realignment of dioceses, he became a member of the Diocese of Wichita and served in Cherryvale, Windthorst and Marienthal. Fr. Boringer died on June 3, 1913 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita where he had been confined for twelve years. “Father Boringer suffered much, at times intensely, but always with an infinitude of patience and resignation.” (The Catholic Advance, June 7, 1913) Fr. Hackenbroich celebrated his funeral Mass at St. Francis Hospital and Bishop Hennessy preached the sermon.
