Father Peter Kaub
Father Kaub was born on November 30, 1902 at Daun, Germany and studied for the priesthood a Mundelein Seminary, Chicago, IL; Kenrick Seminary, St. Louis, MO and St. Thomas Seminary, Denver, CO. Bishop Schwertner ordained him for the Diocese of Wichita at St. Mary’s Cathedral on May 21, 1932. After serving as an assistant at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Wichita for four months, he was made pastor at Yates Center with Owl Creek as a mission. Other assignments for Father Kaub were: LaCrosse, St. Rose Hospital in Great Bend, Mt. Carmel Hospital in Pittsburg, Little River and Zenda. He died suddenly at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hutchinson on June 20, 1963. Bishop Byrne celebrated his funeral Mass at St. John’s Parish in Zenda and Msgr. Quintin Malone in preaching the homily said, “the hallmark of Father Kaub’s life was his meekness and uncomplaining spirit.” (The Advance Register, June 30, 1963)
