Father Leo B. Hahn

Father Hahn was born on August 23, 1934 in Jennings, Kansas, and in 1941 his family moved to Wichita where they attended St. Patrick Parish. After attending Cardinal Glennon College and Kenrick Seminary in St. Louis, MO, he was ordained by Bishop Mark K. Carroll at St. Patrick Parish in Wichita on Mar. 18, 1961. Father Hahn served as an assistant at St. Joseph Parish, Andale; St. Mary Parish, Parsons; St. Patrick Parish, Kingman; St. Patrick Parish, Chanute; and St. Anne Parish, Wichita. He also taught religion at St. Patrick High School in Parsons and was CYO Moderator for the Parsons Deanery and Kingman Deanery. In 1970 he took a leave from the Diocese of Wichita to complete a degree in counseling. Father Hahn went on to work in the Archdiocese of Denver, at Patrick Air Force Base in Florida and in 1982 joined the Bureau of Prisons. At the time of his death on March 17, 1989 he was Chaplain of the Federal Correctional Institute in Littleton, CO. The funeral Mass for Father Hahn was celebrated at Christ the King Parish in Evergreen, CO with Father Richard Houlahan, O.M.I. as principal celebrant. Father Donal O’Hare from the Diocese of Wichita was one of the concelebrants at the Mass.
