Msgr. John White

Msgr. White was born in Killucan, County Westmeath, Ireland on July 22, 1911. He was ordained for the Diocese of Wichita at All Hallows College in Dublin, Ireland on June 23, 1935. As an assistant he was assigned to St. Mary Parish in Newton and as a pastor he was assigned to Yates Center. From 1942 until 1963 he served as a chaplain in the U.S. Army attaining the rank of colonel. Upon his return from the military service he was pastor in Cunningham, Fredonia, and Frontenac. In 1976 he was granted a sick leave and on November 3, 1982 he died in Long Beach, NY. He was named a monsignor on June 7, 1965. Msgr. White’s funeral was celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church in Jamaica, NY and he was buried in the Long Island National Cemetery.
