Father James “Jake” Roth

Fr. James Roth was born on Sept. 23, 1920, in Garden City and completed his studies for the priesthood at Conception Seminary in Conception, Mo. He was ordained on June 1, 1946. Father Roth served as an associate pastor at the Cathedral before his more than five decades of service to Holy Name Parish in Bushton. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, served twice as state chaplain, helped organize the Council of Catholic Women, and also served as a deanery moderator and on the priests’ council before his retirement in 1999. He is buried at the Holy Name Parish cemetery in Bushton.
