Msgr. Quintin Malone
Msgr. Malone was born on July 5, 1913 in Raymond, KS. He attended St. Benedict’s College, Atchison, KS and Kenrick Seminary, St. Louis, MO before being ordained in St. Mary’s Cathedral on June 11, 1938. After serving as an assistant at St. Mary’s Cathedral and St. Peter Claver Parish, Wichita, he served as pastor in Waterloo and Mt. Vernon; Moline; Christ the King, Wichita; Kingman; Ost; and Aleppo. He also was diocesan superintendent of schools; diocesan director of education; chaplain of Sacred Heart College; chaplain of St. Francis Hospital, Wichita; a member of the Priests’ Council; a member of the Continuing Education of the Clergy Committee; and vicar forane of the Kingman Deanery. In 1989 he was named a monsignor. Msgr. Malone retired in 1989 and lived at the Priest Retirement Center at the time of his death on November 14, 2001. At the time of his retirement he noted, “I’ve truly enjoyed all my priestly life. Working intimately with people is really the fullest joy of the priesthood.” (The Catholic Advance, Nov. 23, 2001) His funeral was celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral on November 17, 2001 and he was buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Chase, KS.
