Msgr. Joseph Klug
Msgr. Klug was born in Odin, KS on April 4, 1892 and studied for the priesthood at St. Lawrence Seminary, Mt. Calvary, WI and St. Meinrad Seminary, St. Meinrad, IN. Following his ordination on May 19, 1915 in Holy Family Parish, Odin, he served as secretary to Bishop Hennessy for two years. As pastor he was assigned to Sacred Heart Parish in Dodge City for 23 years and to St. Joseph Parish in Andale for 21 years. In 1961 he asked to be assigned as chaplain to St. Luke Hospital in Marion where he remained until 1966 when he retired to his hometown of Odin. He became a diocesan consultor in 1937, was named a monsignor in 1943, and was appointed vicar general of the diocese in 1958. Msgr. Klug died in Great Bend on October 6, 1981. Bishop Maloney was joined by Bishop Gerber and the priests of the Diocese of Dodge City in celebrating Msgr. Klug’s funeral at Holy Family Parish in Odin. Burial was in Holy Family Cemetery in Odin. Bishop Maloney later celebrated a memorial Mass for him at St. Joseph Parish in Andale.
