Msgr. Edward J. Albers

Msgr. Albers was born in St. Leo, KS on May 3, 1906 and studied for the priesthood at Kenrick Seminary, St. Louis, MO. Bishop Schwertner ordained him for the Diocese of Wichita in the cathedral on May 21, 1932. As an assistant he served at the cathedral and at St. Mary’s Parish in Newton. As a pastor he was assigned to St. Anthony Parish in Strong City from 1935 to 1945; to St. Louis Parish, Waterloo, with St. Rose, Mt. Vernon, as a mission from 1945 to 1950; and to St. Patrick Parish in Kingman from 1950 to 1965. In 1947 he was appointed Dean of the Kingman Deanery and in 1957 he was made a diocesan consultor and a monsignor. Following his funeral Mass at St. Joseph Parish in Andale, he was buried in St. Leo Cemetery in St. Leo, KS.
