Father C. Edward Pfirman

Father Pfirman was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 24, 1906. He studied for the priesthood at St. Joseph’s Preparatory Seminary, Calicoon, NY and Holy Name College, Washington, DC and was ordained at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC on June 14, 1932. Before coming to the Diocese of Wichita he served in New York, Boston and Denver. As an assistant he was assigned to Cunningham and to Holy Savior Parish, Wichita and as a pastor he was assigned to Schulte, Augusta and Arkansas City. After a leave of absence because of illness he returned to the diocese and was pastor of St. Martin’s Parish in Caldwell. During his priesthood he was Diocesan Director of Sodalities and twice was Chaplain of the Newman Club in Wichita. He died on May 1, 1965 in the New York City Hospital in New York and his funeral was celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church in Seneca Falls, New York.
